my experience is that some women want marriage more these days due to internalizing still the idea (which is hard to shake off for anyone) and also want divorce more due to the honeymoon being over at some point. In the Netherlands where I am there are all kinds of arrangements. One is being together with or without a partnership or marriage but living apart permanently with or without kids.
